The continuous and quick growth of national economy, and the continuous enlargement of economy quantum, are leading to the continuous increment of social transport requirement amount. This gives rise to the continuous increment of highway traffic requirement. The high-speed developing period of the highway construction , especially expressway construction of China will last for a long period of time, and large amounts of money will be invested. How can such a large investment make the best social and economic benefit? This needs to be earnestly studied in both the planning stage and feasibility study stage of engineer projects by means of advanced techniques.TansCAD is a advanced traffic macroscopic emulation software. This paper aims to how to apply TransCAD well in the highway traffic field of China to improve the earlier stage work.Combined with the engineer feasibility study of a national key highway project, this paper lists and analyzes the main models and methods of current traffic flow distribution forecasting, mainly increasing coefficient method and gravity model method, supplied in TransCAD. The advantages and defects of the two methods are contrasted qualitatively and quantificationally. The result shows that the difference of traffic volume among main road sections is small.
