Outdoor Environment Research In Residence Based On Post-Occupation Evaluation

As the rapid development of economy and culture as well as the rise of living standards and aesthetic standards, the outside environment quality is being taken more seriously recently in the residential constructions of China.In this thesis, Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE) is carried out on five outside environments in Beijing, in consequence of which the five samples are ranked along evaluation scale. Then after a statistical analysis of the factors that influence the quality of the environment of the samples, the main factors are tracked down including the greening, the equipment and the place. On this basis, through studying behavior of the people in the outside environments and the interaction between the people's behavior and the environmental factors, a variety of patterns aimed at improving the environmental quality are provided.This thesis is composed of six parts:Part 1 (including Chapter 1, Introduction) introduces the question. In this part, the previous achievements and insufficiencies of the former researchers are summarized, upon which the direction and method of this writer is put forward.Part 2 (including Chapter 2) introduce the outside environment in residence, and analysis people's require on base of their behavior.Part 3(including Chapter 3) introduce the development of Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE) and its influence to design.Part 4(including Chapter 4) conduct Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE). Post-Occupancy Evaluation is carried out on the environment of the five samples. And by using statistical analysis the main factors influencing the quality of the environment are sought out.In Part 5 (including Chapter 5) carry out a behavior research. An exhaustive investigation and study is conducted about behavior of the people in the squares, through which the composition of the people in the squares, the characteristics and patterns of behavior of those people are concluded.Part 6 is concluding remarks. The limitations of this research and problems to be solved are discussed. The application of the statistical analysis to research of the special environment of the squares characterizes this thesis and so do the theory of the behavior—environment interaction and the study of the environment from the perspective of the behavior requirement of the people environmental research and the pattern aimed at improving the environmental quality.
