Study On Parking Problem Of The Urban Residential Areas In Xi'an

With rapid growth of the national economy, automobiles are becoming more and more common of the national in Chinese families. Random parking has brought inconveniences to, and also influenced the life quality of the local dwellers. How to solve this problem and how to build the harmony dwelling environment for man and car has been an urgent duty to us.Aimming at solving the parking problem, this paper reviews and summarizes the theories and practices concerning parking problems in western countries, adopts the approaches of data collection and on-site investigation, tries to acquire settlements and find out the relative theory and technological to better parking environment of the urban residential areas in Xi'an. This paper discusses the issue from following several aspects:â‘ This paper analyzes the correlated elements causing the car increase in Xi'an, and sums up the influence of car development on the urban residential areas construction;â‘¡After investigating some urban residential areas in Xi'an, collecting and analyzing the data, the paper also finds out the major parking problems in the Urban Residential areas and the causes;â‘¢This paper discusses the parking question from following several aspects of plan structure, parking target, parking layout, dynamic transportation organization and parking environment and explores the countermeasures and solutions to the parking in the Urban Residential areas from parking model and parking environment.Through the research, the paper proposes the way and method to build parking environment. First, we must consider the environmental and economic factors and must leave enough green spaces to ensure a beautiful and clean living surrounding. Second, we should adopt various construction models in order to increase the parking spaces in our living areas. Third, setting up of new parking also must be taken into account by local residents. We should financially minimize the cost and maximize the benefit on the base of local economic and income level so as to ensure that people can afford to pay for their parking afterwards. Lastly , this paper lists the ways and methods to build parking environment which are based on analyzing different urban residential areas in Xi'an, so that people can choose any of them according to their local actualities, and proposes the new and sustainable way in future to the plan design of parking environment.
