Bus industry is a few-batches , many-varieties and high-customization degree industry. Now, how to manufacture higher quality, lower price production to cater for the needs of different markets worldwide becomes the first problem that Chinese coach enterprises facing. Modularization design as a modern design method which provides effective approach for the design and manufacturing about many-varieties, few-batches products is recognized and applied by more and more corporations.Body design process was discussed from the demands of clients, those demands are classified by many groups in the method of fuzzy clustering analysis. On the basis of demand priority of client groups, analytic hierarchy process model was set and products spectrum was attempted to ascertain by a series of formula. Conceptual module of mature bus-body that exists was used to design macro project bus that clients demand.Module partition was carried on by combining with a body-frame, and an explicit appraise was given for the result of partition. The partition method of general module and special module was introduced by taking the example of coping module, and the conception of general parts and special parts was put forward. And the problem of how to choose similar module in the process of body design was discussed based on the theory of comparability.A concision module coding system was established, the coding was taken as an important attribute of modules and parts, and written into coach-body module management system. As a result, the design efficiency was greatly improved.
