With the development of our urbanization, the contradictions of transportation emerge gradually, especially in some metropolitan cities. The main contradiction is that the construction of urban transportation infrastructure can not meet the increase need caused by the urban transportation. To promote the public transportation is the main way to solve this problem. At present, the transit sharing rate is very low due to the low-level of service and the limited access to related information. The lack of information leads to the loss of passenger volume. Therefore, it is absolutely important to improve the transit information system to enhance its sharing rates and upgrade the service of the whole traffic system. The thesis constructs a frame for the transit passenger information system and puts the emphasis on the transit stops' electronic information board system and inquiry system on transit routes combined with the results of Chengdu's transit trip characteristics survey. The former is to provide the exact information for the passengers while the latter aims at offering proper transit routes and transfer information. According to the features of the two systems, a possible plan is put forward in this thesis to lay a foundation to the future manipulation. There is also a model built for calculating the time that the bus pulls in and the choice of the best transit route, in order to give passengers the most accurate time schedule information and the best trip plan.At last, a brief conclusion is made for the research of the thesis as well as the expectations for the further study.
