A Study On Yesanguan Historic Town Of Badong County In Hubei

The research comes from the cooperative project established by Wuhan University of Technology and Kanagawa University of Japan: "China-Japan's Cooperative Study on the Streets of Ancient Town in Hubei Province" and "The Study on Conservation and Utilization's Mode and Method of Historic Town in Hubei Province" published by Wuhan University of Technology. And it's a part of the project "The Study on Folk-house in Hubei Province" which is published by the Construction Department of Hubei province.As a analysis case study of ancient town, this thesis bases on the study on the Yesanguan Town of Badong County in Hubei, which came into existence about 300 years ago. It studies from both aspects of architecture history and urban design, combining with geography, sociology and other subjects. Here it mainly uses three methods: investigation, survey analysis and comparison analysis, it starts with the current situation of Yesanguan town and historical information, it tries to discover the rules of the evolvement in ancient town and explore the features and connotation of the ancient streets. Further more, the research can find out the features of culture, history and the traditional inhabitation in Hubei. Then we can bring forward better method of conservation and utilization way on ancient town..The thesis is composed of seven chapters. The first chapter is introduction. The second chapter to the sixth one is the main body of the paper. It discusses the evolvement of the street in history, the structure of the town's space, the features of the public space(street and route), the traditional building on the street. Finally, the paper presents the idea of the protection and development of the street such as "To protect historical style and features, to resume traditional function, and to rebirth the old streets". The seventh chapter draws a conclusion and present the further study on the town.In Chapterâ… , it introduces the background, significance, object, research method and framework. It also includes the research status which about historical town all aroud world, as well as Yesanguan Town.In Chapterâ…¡, it introduces and analyses the history and relationship between "the Tujia nationality" and the culture of "Ba", and the information about climate, geography, history and culture in both Badong City and Yesanguan Town. And it explores the history about how the town formed and evolved.In Chapterâ…¢, it analyses the features of the site choice and layout, which is characterized by the environment aroud Yesanguan Town, and it also deal with the reason of how it evolved.In Chapterâ…£, it inlustrates the street feature in the Yesanguan Town of such aspect as street function, street structure, plan, section, landscape as well as civil engineering.In Chapterâ…¤, it analyses the tranditional architecture types and features, classifies the architecture with the function and space, it also summarizes the features of the particular area.In Chapterâ…¥, it presents the current situation in Yesanguan Town, and gives some proposal to the conservation and development strategy for the historic town, all the strategies match the evaluation for the certain range of Yesanguan Town.The last chapter concludes the thesis and presents the prospect as well.
