With the national city and countryside electric power network transforming unceasingly, distribution network automatic system construction is necessary. The precondition of construction is the fluency of communication. According to the requirements of DA on transmitting capacity, reliability, security, real time, economical efficiency, expedience and so on, analyse various communication way applied to DA, compare these applicable scope, analyse these problems, carry on discusss essential technology related to GPRS, emphatically analyze architecture, protocol model, security and applicable scope, propose new pattern of solving transmission problem according to the example with two schemes analyse the usability, compatible, reliable stable, security, efficient. GPRS has maturely used to the public network, the signal coverage is broad, it is feasible when applied to power communication Private Network.and its adaptability is hold in the face of many monitor nodes in complex network. We take measures with software and hardware configuration to guarantee the reliability and stability, bring forward direct attestation from host to terminal, provide high strength secure safeguard. The article validates the feasibility of using GPRS to structure network. With the precondition of ensuring data transmission safely and reliably, electric power enterprise with system reform under market economy condition, regards reducing project cost and decreasing running and maintenance, enhancing efficiency to the important condition of enterprise development, reducing cost and raising benefit. Therefore, GPRS will help to realize enterprise developing faster and better. The article also offers right reference for paying attention to GPRS and impelling its actual application..
