With the development of distribution automation technology, communication technology in distribution network operation and monitoring role in the field has become increasingly a cause for concern, This paper describes the current power system communication, summarizes the advantages and disadvantages, Means of communication mixed in the distribution network is the future development direction of the communication system in the of distribution automation system. It studied the characteristics of 10kV distribution network automation and communication technologies. According to the characteristics of the complex branches, the large number of monitored nodes and low requirement for real-time in medium voltage distribution network, then a mode is proposed to realize distribution automation, that is dual-channel communication mode of distribution network based on the PLC and GPRS. The entire communications system design is major based PLC communication, GPRS communication supplemented, and communication control system is divided into power distribution systems, communications master station system, communication sub-station system. Communication module of each brief description of the function, design and production of VC-based distribution platform and the communication control system of distribution based on ARM communications hardware, the appropriate measures are taken to improve communication efficiency interference on the hardware side. The system which is low investment costs, high reliability and simple installation and maintenance is a viable distribution network communication system.
