The energy consumption of the residential building is the important constitution of the civilian building's energy consumption, compare to the public building, the individual energy consumption is lower, but the total energy consumption is larger. And with the development of the economy, its proportion will increase more and more quickly. In our country, the underway time of building energy efficiency is later than the developed country, so the residential building's energy efficiency of our country has a long way to catch up with the developed country. Therefore, the building's energy efficiency especially the residential building's energy efficiency should be given much more consideration and be researched as an important task. This paper take the Chongqing's residential buildings for example, through a large number of energy simulation for actual residential building , indicates a lot of design projects for energy efficiency of residential buildings in performance way. At first, analyzing the building envelope structure energy efficiency in Chongqing and the investigation of the 90 residential buildings presents distribution rule of the energy efficiency parameters including building shape coefficient, area ratio of window to wall, building envelope's construction and sun shading. The investigation shows the neglects and points in the efforts of energy efficiency in Chongqing: after 2005, the Chongqing government puts teeth in"Design Standard of Residential Buildings for Energy Efficiency in Chongqing", all the building envelope's thermal performance are up to snuff, but most shape coefficient are exceeded without special Sun shading, which goes against buildings energy efficiencySecondly, analyzing the influences between building forms and shape coefficient in order to offerring some references to architects during the building plan design. The results show that in the same floor area, shape coefficient of regular polygon model must be less than other polygon model's. And with the increasing of N, shape coefficient of polygon model will be smaller and smaller, S正三棱柱>S正四棱柱>S正六棱柱>S圆柱体.Thirdly, by simulating energy consumption of DOE-2, analyzing the influences between building length X /building depth Y, shape coefficient and the relations with energy consumption. The results show that building length X and depth Y have similar impacts on shape coefficient: with the infinity of building length X or depth Y, shape coefficient will be minishing to some extremum; building length X works on cool energy consumption more effectively than depth Y does.Fourthly, findng the influences in story height h / building height H, shape coefficient and the relations with energy consumption. The results show that story height h and shape coefficient performance as the negative linear correlation and the more of of stories, story height h palys less impaction in shape coefficient, while shape coefficient will be more important to building energy consumption. It also indicates that shape coefficient and energy consumption will minish with the increasing of building height H., and shape coefficient plays more important role in heating energy consumption than in cool energy consumption.Furthermore, taking garden houses, villas and united bildings for example to analyz the influences in shape coefficient and building energy consumption. It shows that, the more concavo-convex of building vertical planes, the shape coefficient will be larger, heating energy consumption and total energy consumption must be increasing accordingly by linear correlation. Finally, the author takes a project for example to analyze the economic feasibility of controlling shape coefficient for buildings energy efficiency. It proved that building design is the frist important step of buildings energy efficiency, and if buildings energy efficiency dedign have not been took into account during building design, it will cost much more expense.
