Vehicle navigation system has become a fast-growing industry in recent years. In Europe and Japan, vehicle navigation system has been put in widely application. In our country, by the development of industry of Vehicle the market of the application of Vehicle navigation system is quickly increased. The developments of Internet and ITS also enhance the trend. The resource of Internet and the information of space can combined in the application of vehicle navigation system, and the combination can bring large value in the future. So the vehicle navigation system have a widely foreground.The vehicle carried terminal described in this paper is used in vehicle supervising system, Relying on GSM/GPRS network run by China Mobile, the terminal can upload GPS data to monitor center and receive the dispatched orders from the center. The interval of data sampling and the halt of the terminal can also controlled by the center. The terminal (Preliminary version) has been realized successfully by SNMSUNG S3C2410A microcontrollers (based on a 32/16 bit ARM9TDM1-S CPU) embedded with Real Time Operating System WINCE, WAVECOM SIM300 GSM/GPRS module and REB3300 GPS module.Firstly, this paper introduces the GPS navigation system and describes the structure nd characteristics of GPRS network. GPRS network is a mobile packet data net by dding two nodes to GSM network, SGSN and GGSN. By using packet exchanging echnique, it overcomes the low-efficiency and low-utilization in circuit exchanging.Thus it provides a general radio packet service with high-efficiency and low-cost.Secondly, it analyzes the hardware and software architecture of embedded terminal; it shows the analysis and design for the component of embedded pplication.Because of time the .function that paper gave is limited, but it is the basic skill of a supervising a.nd controlling system of vehicle based ors GPS. With the research going on, the function may be more perfected. And th.i.s system may greatly improve benefit of the vehicles and enhance the capability of carrying trade. It will benefit us greatly.
