With the development of computer simulation technology, simulation technology has been applied more and more widely to the industry and the research area of defense. As the complexity of problems increased, however, single simulation system hasn't satisfied requirement, and distributed simulation basing on mufti-system has become necessary of simulation. Large-scale simulation generates a great number of data, scientists and engineers should take much time and energy to analyze the data which are always boring numerals and symbols. The development of computer science and computer graphic brings the visual technology, which could present real environment and express the simulation process objectively by special equipment, providing a visual and vivid simulation analysis means. Therefore, the virtual reality technology extricates scientists and engineers from the boring data thoroughly.The high level architecture of distributed and interactive simulation and visual technology has been combined to the study of distributed visual simulation system for the final assembly line of vehicles. A distributed and interactive visual simulation system for the final assembly line of vehicles is developed, and some important aspects in the system are discussed.Firstly, The evolution of distributed and interactive simulation is introduced, the calculating parameters of the final assembly line of vehicles are discussed in detail, and the architecture of simulation system is designed as well.Secondly, how to implement the simulation on high level architecture is researched, the federation conceptual model and the federation object model are set up, and the federates are constructed.Thirdly, the object of system is analyzed, the method and process of three dimensional geometric object model is studied, and the three-dimensional geometric object model and the motion model are set up.Fourth, based on the visual technology, the virtual scene integrating and driving technique are researched, and an application definition file is given.At last, Under the condition of a stated hypothesis, the paper designed a frame of members in the system, meanwhile, it also realized the system after having discussed the key technology. In the end, the paper gave a demo for its reader also.The visual simulation system for the final assembly line of vehicles developed in this paper simulates the process of final assembly of vehicles on distributed conditions, provides an economy and extensible platform for the designing and analysing the final assembly line of vehicles. The combination of HLA and VR is useful and referential for related simulation.
