Rock-fill dam is one of main type of earth rockfill dam. It has many advantages, such as good adaptability , a lot of local materials can be used, convenient formechanized construction, shorten the construction period, low in cost and so on. So itis extensively applied in water conservancy project, we have accumulated abundantpractical experience and a series of achievement in scientific research and becomed adam type having high competition capacity in the construction and development waterconservancy project.Firstly, rockfill dam survey is summarized. Secondly, three dimensional non-linearfinite element calculations about the system of anti-seepage which are compositegeomembrane of upper reaches and cutoff wall of dam foundation are done with largefinite element software-ANSYS. This paper primarily includes following severalparts of research:1,Introducing rock-fill dam with different kinds of anti seapage body and theapplication of composite geomembrane in hydraulic engineering according to theengineering instance and reviewing the development of research on concreteconstitutive model.2,Based on the mechanical property of composite geomembrane, this paper madean introduction to two calculation method of composite geomembrane, i.e. curveintersection method and finite element method (FEM), presented using FEM tocomposite geomembrane's thickness and studied on the arrangement of structurecomposite geomembrane.3,Large finite element software-ANSYS is adopted to calculate and simulate thestresses and deformations of rock-fill dam project from its construction to storageperiod. In the study, the stresses and deformations of dam in different period havebeen done.4,According to above mentioned using ANSYS to analyze the stresses anddeformations of surface of rock-fill dam. then deciding composite geomembrane'svariety and thickness and providing theoretical foundation to rock-fill dam design and selection of composite geomembrane.5,The method of birth and death of element is adopted to simulate the constructionprocess of dam, water storage process of dam, and analyze effect of two kinds ofconstructions sequence(the construction of dam body first or that of cutoff wall first)to the stresses and deformations of cutoff wall.
