To bring down the cost of a building, we should not only adopt the rational design method but also develop the reasonable and economical structure system, as well as slabs and walls which are light and fasten.The new light steel structure system was considered as investigative object. So the technology and economy capability of this structure system was study by comparing.1,According to the developing history of multi-rise and high-rising steel structures, structure results were summarized, and so were the advantages and disadvantages of multi-rise and high-rising steel structures. Then, a new type of steel structure named new light steel structure was brought forward. The new light steel structure mentioned in this thesis is composed of steel frames, light steel slabs and light steel walls. It not only takes the advantage of braced-steel structure system, but also makes the steel braces into the wall. It is a structure with dual system which can improve industrial manufacture degree of the steel structure. The structure system can reduce the section area of the structural members efficiently, and enlarge the area which can be used in the building. Meanwhile, the weight of the building is cut down, as well as the bear on foundation. So, this structure system not only lessens the cost of a building but also make the building more strong in the earthquake.2,According to the analysis of the floors and walls used in steel structures, the advantage of light steel floors and walls are summarized. Then, the joints connected floors and walls with structure are designed.3,The serial software named PKPM were used to design the new style light steel structure system under seismic fortification intensity 8. The 3 special earthquakes are chosen to apply time-history analysis to the building under strong and small earthquake.4,By comparing the result in new style light steel structure system with the result get in braced-steel structure system in the same design condition, the advantages of light steel structure are summarized. At last, the conclusion that the new style light steel structure can be widely used in the future is draw.
