Research On Conservation Plan Of Great Ruins On Urban Fringe

Urban fringe is the most complicated and dynamic region of a city. Threatened by rapid expansion of urban space and urban population and suffered from the unceasing erosion and damage, great ruins increase the contradictions between the heritage protection and urban development. Taking great ruins in urban fringe as research object, this dissertation attempts to find a feasible countermeasures and methods suitable to the protection of great ruins in urban fringe in harmony with the urban development.The dissertation is divided into five parts. Firstly, the concept of great ruins in urban fringe is introduced from the location angle, and then some foundational problems about it are analyzed and summarized including traits, value and relationship with cities.In the second part, an in-depth analysis about the protection status quo and underlying reason of great ruins in urban fringe and some appropriate solutions are trying to work out.Based on the comprehensive study of the problems of the basic theory concerned and status quo, the overall protective principle is brought forward consequently in the third part, i.e. the contradiction between protection and development should be solved at macro level. And the positive significance of great ruins to the city is discussed and pointed out in this part also.In the forth part, starting with the following three topics, namely conservation content and method, conservation zoning, coordination between heritage conservation and other relevant plans, some technical matters for drawing up the programmings related to the conservation plan of great ruins on urban fringe and discussed.Finally, a further explanation about the principle mentioned above is made as a case conservation plan of the ruin, Huaqing Gong (Palace) of Tang Dynasty.
