After the sixth speed-up in national railway, trains are running at a higher speed and with longer working intervals. The high speed railway imposes much higher and stricter requirements on our capbablity to moniter the locomotive vehicle, to respond the emergency, and to deal with the faults happened in transit quickly and timly.Since the vehicle electric drive circuit is the center monitering system, its currency stability has a direct effect on the running of the locomotive. The electric drive circuit has more than often had faults as it works in the high tempearture environment and in the motion of vibration. The statistic data reveal that more than 40% locomotive faults are related to the electric drive circuit and its detect and diagnose are not an easy job. Futhermore a large majority of the locomotive vehicles acquire the running status data from the on-borad system. Therefore, to develop the dynamic diagnosis system and to build the closed loop vehicle running status data system are growing more and more imperative for the relealization of the railway transport command and control information system , and for supporting the sixth national railway speed up. Backed up by the existing wire and wireless telecommunication system, the closed loop system could make the"vehicle to surface", "vehicle to vehicle" "surface to vehicle" and "surface to surface" data exchanges, which enable the vehicle safety related equiments under command and control, and provide reliable and timely data for adminsitrating the tranportation and vehicles, and for backing up the repair and rescue works.This paper analyzes the locomotive eletric drive circuit and the vehicle running status monitering system, which mainly accomplish the following works.1. To detect and diagnose the faults of the vehicle eletric drive circuit timely and correctly, and to trace the cause to the vehicle parts.2. To provide prediction information for the un-normal running locomotive vehicles, and to facilitate the surface dispatcher tracing.3. To detect the basic running status data, and transfer all data to the surface and save there.In the reasearch, the writer mainly finish the following works: 1. To select the Field Programmable Gate Array chip and apply the System on a Programmable Chip designing method to build a smart monitering system designed for a specific stlye vehicle.2. Put forward the Mirror of Circuit Logic designing method, and realize this theory on FPGA chip.3. Set up the end-user GUI to coordinate all assignments based on theμc/osⅡsofeware frame.
