In the back ground of the global population ageing, our country has already been into an ageing nation since beginning of this century. As an ageing developing country, our nation is not only the most populous but also one of the earliest. The ageing issue which is relatively to the society stabilization and continuation is significant. The all-important question of provide for the aged is housing. It is a concernful task for urban planners and architects to solve it.The thesis summarized the characteristic and the future trend of our nation's ageing. Meanwhile, analyses has been made to the status in quo of elderly support in shanghai which is a representative of metropolitan; Foreign example for ageing housing is collected and analyzed. A attempt is made to upbuild a Habitation Style which is suitable for our country from the analyses throughout three layers of "city-community-individual". An example of city area is analyzed from the ageing angle, and a series of questionnaires which cover both the olds and youths are made to help understanding mass wills on ageing issues too. On the base of before-mentioned efforts, the author maintains two models: "the section model"(for the layer of city) and "the unit model" (for the layer of community), and then makes further efforts to find out strategies and conceptions in aspect of implementary layer.In principle of "based on the olds ", author analyses the problems and strategies for habitation style from three different layers, and then propose the suggestion of upbuilding an aged habitation system which may be benefit to improving the olds's stander of living with the angle of urban planning and architecture.
