Suspen-dome structure is a new kind of hybrid space structure with the combination of an upper single-layer lattice shell and a lower cable-strut system. For its better overall stability and relatively less constructional difficulty, suspen-dome has a very broad applied prospect. Based on a particular suspen-dome structure adopted in the practical engineering, this thesis carried out a careful study on several issues of its structural design and construction which may further promote the applications of this new structural form. The issue of prestress in suspen-dome structure was first described, with a conclusion that the length error of prestressed elements was bound to affect the structure forming for the sake of prestress distribution and the structural performance afterwards. After a brief introduction of the sensitivity theory, the Monte Carlo method and orthogonal design method were adopted respectively for prestressed elements' length-error sensitivity analysis. Then a comparison was made on the basis of the above-mentioned methods and a conclusion was got afterwards. Then followed was an introduction of relative theory of construction analysis. For better understanding of structure forming method, construction scheme and numerical and experimental analysis, a scale model was designed from its practical counterpart. The comparative analysis between theory and test data had verified the accuracy of whole construction process theory. Some suggestions for construction were also provided. For the issue that certain cable may potentially break off in the structure, a FEM method called "death element" method was applied for numerical analysis of the structural performance after loop cables broke in the real structure. Then again scale model was utilized for broken analysis of diagonal cables and strut of the lower cable-strut system. Through this effort, correctness of the cable broken theory was verified as well as a better understanding of structural performance after partial rupture of cables and bars.Taking into account the importance of joints design, this thesis gave a briefing on the characteristics of cast steel joints, their classification and research status. Then FEM analysis of typical casting joint in the real structure was conducted, which provided a solid foundation for the reasonable design of key joints. At the final part this thesis summarized the previous research work and raised problems needed to be addressed in further study.
