In recent years, auto industry of our country develops at full speed, the amount of automobile rapid increase, At the same time, this also has caused the correlation each kind of accident swift and violent growth. According to the result announcemented by National security Production Bureau for nearly five years. The side impact causes the traffic accident accounts for about 30% of sum. The death rate caused by side impact was only inferior to front impact, but the harmful rate caused by side impact was the highest in all of the impact accidents. The lateral of the vehicle is always very weak, and the cushion area is small, so the absorbing ability is poor and the risk of damage is high. Therefore the safety study about vehicle side impact is very important to improve the integer safety ability of the car in our country.The article expatiate the basic theory on the computer simulation of vehicle impact firstly, then research on the side impact simulation about a chosen car. This article emphasis on the basic research of vehicle side impact simulation , discussing the influence of the mesh size and element type and the number of integrate on the accuracy and efficiency, and acquire some conclusion:(1)considering from efficiency and accuracy, the size of car body for main deformation range is chosen to be 12mm, non-main deformation range chooses 30mm, other choose 50mm,The basic element type is BT, but from the aspect of element stiffness, the BWC arithmetic of element can satisfy the demand of side impact simulation.(2)The car body for main deformation areas, like left side encircles, left side the gate, the floor crossbeam, around the floor and so on choose high integrate points, other non-main deformation areas choose less integrate points. In brief, the integrate points increase with the badness of deformation.(3)The hourglass mode can be well controlled by stiffness hourglass control in the process of side impact simulation.(4)The influence of weld failure on the absorbing performance of parts is large, weld failure is considered in the article. The above study ensures the correctness of vehicle side impact simulation.The results of virtual test is particular detailed analyzed, some impersonal evaluation is also given, successfully realize the simulation of vehicle side impact.
