There are many merits in the AMT, and it becomes an important study and exploitation direction in automated transmission. In our country, there are many universities and manufactures who are studying the AMT system increasingly. Therefore, the farther method study of AMT system control and the appropriate summarization method of AMT design can provide excellent ideas and methods for the AMT development and father exploitation, and offer great utility value; it is important for the AMT industrialization and improving the self-determination exploitation capability of our country's automatic transmissions.The clutch engagement control is one of the most important problems of the power train automatic manipulation of AMT system. Though researchers have studied the fuzzy control methods for clutch engagement control, some stay at the theory study and computer emulator. Despite anthers applied the fuzzy control to the test vehicle, the main technique and study method aren't outward; it is as same as the foreign AMT technique and methods. Then, it is very necessary to study the whole process of cutch fuzzy control method from theory and emulator to test, we can master the clutch fuzzy control technique in deed, and it is very important for improving AMT clutch engagement quality, quickening the industrialization process, accelerating the wide application of the fuzzy control technique.Firstly, this paper discusses the AMT design from idea, hardware, software and control. Secondly, aiming at the AMT clutch engagement characteristic, it analyzes the clutch engagement law in detail and puts forward the main factors of affecting clutch starting engagement. Thirdly, according to the factors, it adopts the fuzzy control method to control clutch engagement, applies the MATLAB for computer down-line emulator, tests the fuzzy control method of clutch starting engagement in Santana2000 car equipped with AMT system driven by hydraulic. Lastly, this paper analyses the test data and results, adjusts the related control parameters, and gains the perfect purpose by using the fuzzy control.
