Synchronous generator excitation control system is in charge of regulating the generator output voltage and guaranteeing it's stable operation. Excellent excitation control system not only could guarantee the generator running reliably and steadily, but also could enhance the static stability and transient stability of the electric power system.Based on analyzing the actuality and development trend of the excitation control system at home and abroad, this paper designs a synchronous generator excitation control system using TMS320F2812 as the control center. To improve the reliability of the excitation control system, firstly this paper researches on the dual module hot spare technology of the excitation control system. Based on it, the paper chooses TMS320F2812 as the control center, presenting the design methods of the hardware and software in dual module hot spare synchronous excitation control system. In the hardware system, this paper designs three-level PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) as the excitation power unit and chooses SVPWM(Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation) arithmetic as the control strategy.Secondly, based on the particular analysis of the switch principle of dual microcomputer, this paper researches the switch unit of dual microcomputer specially and designs the circuit of it.Under the support of the system hardware, adopting modularizing design rule, this paper designs the application software of the system and gives parts of flowcharts of the software. Finally through MATLAB simulation, this paper analyzes the effect of PID parameters and sampling cycle on the stability of excitation system.
