With the rapid development of the wind power generation technology, the problems of volume and weight are becoming prominent gradually. Weight reduction has already been an effective means to decrease the cost of wind turbine. On the premise of guaranteeing the various performance indexes of the pitch drive, how to try the best to reduce the wind power's weight has become one of the hot issues for the designing. Combined with the optimization design project of DHI DCW GROUP CO., LTD which involves with pitch drive of MW wind turbine, this paper completes the research on optimization design of key parameters for gear transmission of pitch drive.Planetary gear reducer is the core component of pitch drive. In order to form the constrained nonlinear optimization model of planetary gear reducer, it is needed to set up the mathematical model of the optimization design for planetary gear reducer, choose minimizing the sum volume of all levels internal gear pitch circles as the objective function of optimization design, all levels transmission ratio, the teeth of sun gear and the module as optimization design variety, and analyze and discuss the constraints functions. According to the mathematical model of the optimization design, using sequential quadratic programming method for solving nonlinear constrained optimization problems, the author designs the program to solve optimization process and optimizes the planetary gear reducer of pitch drive by means of calling function in the optimization toolbox which is based on MATLAB programming platform. The calculation verification proves to the result of optimization. The results show that the optimization design has an obvious effect and the structure of the planetary gear reducer is more compacted.The static and modal analysis are made for the box of pitch drive by Finite Element method. We derive the maximal stress and displacement of the box structure through structural static analysis, and natural frequency and modes of the box structure through modal analysis. The results of static and modal analysis provide reference on structure design of the box of pitch drive.Verifications show that the performance indexes of the optimizing designed planetary gear reducer, whose structure is more compacted, meets the designing requirements. It's of great guiding significance to develop pitch drive of wind turbine with high-power.
