The fundamental difficulty lies in the design of the stadium in mountainous area arises from the antinomy of mountainous area's"inclined plane"and stadium space's"horizontal plane". The basic antinomy results in the correlation of the stadium and the mountainous area , and thus gives rise to the phenomenon that the space arrangement of the stadium in mountainous area different from those in flat places.The thesis puts forward theories of adaptation design by exploring the special environment and restricting factors of the construction of stadium in mountainous area. Focused on the stadiums of our country, especially the factual problems confronting the construction of stadiums in mountainous area, this thesis uses the three composing elements of space as the starting point, and it respectively expounds the adaptation theories used in coping with the relationship between the stadium and the nature, humanities and technologies of the mountainous area, hoping that finally they will be applied in the actual functional space design.The first chapter serves as the prelude, illustrating the origin, background, purpose, significance as well as content and methods used of the research.The second chapter that raises questions defines the basic concept of the stadium in the mountainous area, expounds the formation of the space of the stadium in the mountainous area and systematically analyses present problems facing the stadium in the mountainous area on the basis of field research.The third chapter analyses problems, putting forward adaptation theories based on the factual problems confronting the stadium in the mountainous area. It illustrates the application of the adaptation theories in dealing with the relationship the stadium and the nature, humanities and technologies of the mountainous area.The fourth and fifth chapter, the high points of the thesis paper, mainly solves the present problems. The fourth chapter is related to the adaptive design of the functional space. Firstly, it analyses the formation and features of the stadium space, and then it sets out the solution of adaptive design based upon various kinds of functional space, including the cubicalization of traffic-related space, multi-dimension of scenery, earth-covered grandstand, sinking of the down space of the stadium as well as the multi-direction of the evacuation space,The fifth chapter concerns the adaptive design of the stadium space, including the integration of land shape, diminishing the height , using mountain shape to set off the shape by contrast; displaying local features. Moreover, it looks into the integration of the spatial forms into diverse kinds of mountainous environment.The sixth chapter concerns the adaptive design of the stadium space about the construction.
