It is well known that traffic and transportation is the main artery of China's national economy, moreover, railway transportation is the mainstay of the transportation industry under China's basic national conditions. With economy developing, the transportation demand of industrial materials and daily necessities throughout the country is increasing sharply. The result of that is transport volume increases briskly, however, the transport capacity can not meet the growing demand. In particular, in recent years our country invests many large-scale projects, such as: the equipments of large factories and power plants, imported equipments and so on. Due to the dramatic increase of the transport need of out-of-gauge and overweight goods and the complex transportation conditions of these goods, this dissertation focuses on the study of out-of-gauge and overweight goods transportation.Out-of-gauge and overweight goods transportation is a complicated and multi-factor interaction systematic project which involves sections such as transportation, freight, vehicle, engineering affairs and locomotive work. This article, based on the current situation of out-of-gauge and overweight goods railway transportation, explores and researches the transportation of these special goods. By analyzing the factors and links restricting the out-of-gauge and overweight goods transportation, it raises relative countermeasures to improve the transportation efficiency and service quality of the out-of-gauge and overweight vehicles and enhance the railway's competitive capacity in large dimension goods transportation market.This paper analyzes and solves the existing problems of out-of-gauge and overweight goods transportation, and proposes the solution of judging the out-of-gauge grade of cylinder goods, and then adopts the reasonable scientific methods for gauge management. The development of long and large cargo freight cars is related to the developing of out-of-gauge and overweight freight transportation. Therefore it at last expounds the key technology and the development features of long and large cargo freight cars.
