| The value of Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal heritage consist effect on water conservancy and shipping, the interaction on economy, culture and landscape with coastwise area; and be important role on promoting the development of society and economy at that time. The canal itself and the heritage reflect the interaction on economy, culture and landscape of the Canal and coastwise area are the main part of Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal heritage, including the watercourse, interrelated water conservancy and shipping construction, unmoveable cultural relic remained, natural and cultural landscape, and the intangible cultural heritage. The dissertation use both method of literature research and field research, systematically research interrelated heritage of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal in Jiaxing, ascertain the connotation and value of the Jiaxing part of Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. Provide basic research on work and presrvation of cultural relics under national preservation of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the relative heritages, and the site selection in Jiaxing for application for the world cultural heritage of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.
