At present, it is the key period of our country's ship industry development. Our country strides forward the aim of big power and strong country in the area of shipbuilding. This paper does research in connection with key technology of ship conceptual design, which are reflected in the following respects:1. In the stage of conceptual design, designer should check the Rules and regulations at every turn to go forward step by step, which will cause iterative amendments, low efficiency. This paper builds and stores rules and regulations in the form of knowledge, and adopts appropriate reasoning system. This part can accomplish the calculation and verification required by the rules and regulations, and proposes some reasonable suggestion according to the rules and regulation. It is very useful for ship design. This paper builds bulk carrier conceptual design system based on knowledge-based engineering. The designer just need input the basic parameters, and not need turn over related regulations repeatedly, and they will have a more broad and free design space.2. Based on studying Differential evolution (DE) ,this paper compared DE with other algorithms and discussed the choice of DE's control variables. In this paper, DE was expanded to solve the mixed variables, restricted principal dimensions optimization. This paper uses the expansion DE to solve principal dimensions optimization of 23800dwt unrestricted area bulk carrier. The results show that DE is an efficient and practical engineering optimization methods.3. The traditional ship design is based on AutoCAD, and most engineering drawings are 2D drawings. This article redevelops to build 3D lines plan on the platform. Then, build the 3D surface, and calculate related result. This progress will improve design efficiency. The3D surface will offer basic for continues detail design and product design. This paper use 3Dwire frame and surface to make a span from 2Dspace to 3D space, which improve the efficiency and precision of traditional ship design method. 4.In this paper, I preliminarily build an bulk carrier conceptual design system based on CTIA. This system contains three modules: knowledge-based engineering module, dimension decision module and lines plan design module.
