Pitch Propeller Marine Propulsion Device System Simulation And Interface Design

Along with the development of the shipbuilding industry and the automatic control technology, the CPP (controllable pitch propeller) has got the extensive application because of many obvious advantages than FPP (fixed pitch propeller) in ships. STCW78/95 Pact (International Conve- ntion on Standard of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafares) has listed the propulsion equipment of CPP ships as an essential training item for senior engineer.Because of above-mentioned requirement, The Marine Simulation Center of SMU (Shanghai Maritime University) designed and developed the manipulative simulator according to CPP Ships. The main contents of this thesis are to study and set up real-time operation simulator of CPP ship's propulsion system, design and develop emulational software for the system.Firstly, according to the basic equationses of ship propulsion system, divided the system into three parts: ship and quant system, diesel engine system and pitch control system with the objective ship, this thesis analyses and realizes the control model of the pitch hydraulic system of CPP ships.Secondly, the thesis combines the working peculiarity and running principle of CPP ships' operation system & alarm system, utilizes emulation technology and automatic control technologies and establishes control logic relation and simulation model, which used for CPP ships' propulsion system. This model has reached to operating requiring and operational procedure for objective ship.Lastly, based on Windows 98 as circumstance and Visual Basic 5.0 as tool, the thesis has developed the operation software, which has vivid & friendly emulation interfaces and real-time simulation effects. The system includes bridge control panel, engine room control panel, local control panel, CPP hydraulic control system. Gear-box hydraulic control system and so on.This emulation system has been finished in Sep. of 2003, and approved by specialist group authenticate, which consided the system has achieved the teaching and training require of IMO (International Maritime Organization) STCW78/95 pact for marine students and senior seamans. At present, the system has used at East China Shipbuilding Institute and our academy.Bytraining on the operation system form our academy Training result, seafares can get more Systematic understanding for the CPP system's components operation mode , emergency control , pitch control principle and have strengthened manipulative ability and reached the anticipated training result. The development of this system has played an important role for extension and expansion of the function of our academy "SMSC-2000 Engine Simulator". At the same time, the research has accumulated experience for the other simulation about CPP for the future.
