In this thesis, the modeling and simulation of the marine controllable pitch propeller propulsion plant and its control system are systemically studied.As the diesel engine-controllable pitch propeller propulsion system can obviously increase the marine propulsion efficiency, improve the performance of the diesel engine-propeller matching and prolong the use-life of the diesel engine, it is widely used practically. By using the multi-modeling methods of the analytic equation method, the quasi-steady state method, the modified method by test data and so on, the model of the marine diesel engine for MAN B&W 6S35MC is proposed. Also by using the modularized modeling method, the model of the pneumatic remote control system for MAN B&W MC CPP (controllable pitch propeller) and the digital governor for DGS8800e are proposed and the visual simulation of the logistic control in the startup process of the diesel engine is actualized.Due to the complexity of the propeller, it is unable to give expression to the propeller thrust and torque by the analytic expression. To avoid the complex calculation of the propeller's characteristics, the model of the thrust and torque calculation is proposed by regarding the open-water test characteristics as the function generator. In view of the influence of the controllable pitch propeller's hydraulic servo unit on the propulsion system, the simplified model of the controllable pitch propeller's hydraulic servo unit is proposed. Alphatronic2000 PCS propulsion system is an advanced controllable pitch propeller control system which is produced by MAN B&W Company recently. The model of the Alphatronic2000 PCS propulsion control system is proposed by using the modularization modeling method. Moreover, the simulation software's program for the controllable pitch propeller propulsion plant and its control system is accomplished by using VC++.The marine controllable pitch propeller propulsion plant and its control system are simulated and calculated. In this thesis, the simulated data and characteristic under the steady state and the dynamic state for the MAN B&W 6S35MC diesel engine, thepropeller thrust and torque as well as the pitch characteristic are given. The simulated data under the emergency crash astern state is also given here. Moreover, the visual simulated results of the pneumatic remote control system for MAN B&W MC CPP, the digital governor for DGS8800e and the Alphatronic2000 PCS propulsion control system are also given in the thesis. The simulation experiments demonstrate that the simulation error is no more than 5% by comparing simulation results with measured data or sea trail data. Therefore, it is proved that the modeling method and the model which are proposed in the thesis are accurate and effective. The proposed model can really reflect the characteristics under the steady state and the dynamic state of the controllable pitch propeller propulsion control system. The real-time of the model is good and the simulated period can be reduced within 50ms.The marine controllable pitch propeller propulsion plant and its control system can be applied to the development and simulated training for the marine engine room. It also can be applied to analyze and predict as well as design the dynamic characteristics under the unsteady state of the controllable pitch propeller propulsion system. Moreover, it can be applied to provide the basal simulated environment for the design and optimization of the controllable pitch propeller propulsion plant and its control system.
