Building energy efficiency is an important part in China's strategy of sustainable development, and public buildings because of their high energy consumption, energy-saving potential is the focus of energy-saving construction. Wuhan City as a typical representative of the city in hot summer and cold winter areas, its building energy consumption has its own characteristics. In order to know the Wuhan City Public building energy consumption status and characteristics of its energy-saving potential, give some recommendations to energy-saving design and construction, a public building in Wuhan City was studied, its energy consumption was simulated.Factors on the impact of building load and energy-saving potential were analyzed. Finally, some energy-saving proposals were given.Based on the Wuhan City investigation of public buildings energy consumption and transformation project, first of all use simplified method to calculate the building load, then energy consumption simulation was made by the software DeST, according to the air-conditioning running time of the building,the whole year was divided into quarter heating, air conditioning quarter and the transition quarter, the characteristics of building load in different time were analysed.Rresponse to these characteristics,some energy-saving suggestions to the building air-conditioning systems operation and management were given. Papers also used orthogonal experiment to study the impact of the building load factors in all the primary and secondary relations.Through the simulation of building energy consumption,various ways of energy-saving for qualitative and quantitative were analyzed to assess the building's energy-saving potential, then the following conclusions were educed:â‘ Reduce the window wall area ratio and the use of shading technology can be very effective in reducing building energy consumption,but improving the insulation performance on wall works litter to the building energy-saving;â‘¡In Wuhan, the solar heat gain coefficient of windows influence the building cooling load more, and the thermal heat transfer coefficient of building influence the heat load, so simulation and calculation must be done before making conclusion by using different glasses to save energy;â‘¢Appropriate to reduce indoor comfort requirements can achieve substantial energy saving effect;â‘£For fixed time on the rest of the office building, air-conditioning systems can be run in the intermittent operation mode.
