Application Study Of Post-Occupancy Evaluation Theory In Urban Park Planning

Urban parks were one of recreational living place for urban residents, green infrastructure and mainly open places for urban. Urban construction, urban parks construction and transformation entered into high speed development since the 1980's of reform and opening time, especially in recent ten years. However, there were many problems in construction, use and management of urban parks which can not be emphasized by government department or management of parks. Planning designers of parks ever have not time to considering the problems appeared in using.Firstly, the definition, function, origin and development of urban parks were summarized in this paper. Secondly, the concept, production, development and research status at home and abroad of post-occupancy evaluation theory were discussed. Thirdly, five research paradigms and ten data collection methods of post- occupancy evaluation were introduced. Then the research results of post-occupancy evaluation for some urban parks at home were integrated and finished. The steps and methods of post-occupancy evaluation which are suitable for urban parks to develop were discussed.Based on the research case of Xiufeng parks in Yiyang city, introducing the theory and method of post-occupancy evaluation, series of data and information of park post-occupancy were obtained by observe, questionnaire and open interview investigation for park users and its behavior activities. After finish and analysis of the data and information, the objectively evaluation conclusions for Xiufeng park were obtained: Xiufeng park is one of civil liking city level comprehensive park in Yiyang city. The activities of leisure, fitness and amusement of civil can be satisfied in this beautiful environment. Meanwhile, the problems of Xiufeng parks in design and management were concluded: small scale, few sight spot, incomplete of matching facilities, few marking brand, poor guidance resistance, few architectural oddments, little barrier-free design, few can be participation amusement projects and facilities, too high of the design for hydrophilic platform, bad management and not timely maintenance and renewal for facilities. Based on these problems, the optimized suggestion of design and management were proposed.
