This paper sums up to the configuration and the characteristic of capability of synchronous belt transmission, based on the domestic and international study on synchronous belt transmission.On the basis, the mechanical parameters for synchronous belt transmission was presented, the calculation of contact force and stresses for belt tooth during the meshing impact with the pulley in the transmission was analyzed using MFBD(Multi Flexible-body Dynamics) simulations for the first time interiorly. The rigid-flexible coupling dynamics model was created by a new multi-body dynamics software "RecurDyn". The finite element mesh generation of the model combined with hexahedral elements was performed in ANSYS, which shows the stresses of the belt tooth transfered into RecurDyn, as a new method for the design and capability analysis of automobile synchronous belt. The vibration of synchronous belt in the transmission was analyzed by the vibration model and the transmission stability was simulated and analyzed by RecurDyn. The design method of synchronous belt gear train transmission was presented and the model was created in the software. The parametric design system about synchronous belt transmission was developed using Windows Visual C#, which evaluated the data processing and verified by examples.
