Although the work of building energy efficiency in China has got to the core of stage, energy efficiency renovation of the existing buildings with a large number of high-energy consumption still has great potential. The work of energy efficiency renovation of the existing buildings in cold regions began early and has made a great effect, but hot summer and cold winter region does not belong to the heating area, and the previous architectural design hardly considered the insulation design, that causes air-conditionings and heating devices are frequently used in summer and winter and brings large energy consumption. So energy efficiency renovation of these existing residential buildings in the region will have important practical significance.In this paper, based on the research on the background of energy efficiency renovation of existing buildings in china and summary of energy efficiency renovation situation at home and abroad, we discussed the development experience and problems of existing energy-saving technology. Then not only analyzed and summed up the specific energy efficiency renovation measures of existing residential buildings, including the building envelope renovation, the external environment improvement and guidance to energy-saving behavior of residents, but also analyzed systematically the main factors of energy-saving effect, and built the factors of energy-saving effect program to evaluate the plans of energy efficiency renovation measures of existing residential buildings, so the strategies of energy efficiency renovation of existing buildings in hot summer and cold winter region can be put forward. In the end, taking an existing residential building in Huzhou City for a case, including: the investigation and analysis of energy consumption; test of the indoor thermal environment in summer and winter; study on energy efficiency renovation techniques of this building, as well as the theoretical analysis on the effect of various options; analysis and evaluation of the factors of energy efficiency renovation including economic, social and others, and thus choosing a relatively appropriate renovation program.Although this study was limited to hot summer and cold winter region, but the renovation strategies involved in this article can be applied throughout the country, only the specific issues and factors involved in the process of the renovation will be different, and therefore we hope that this study will provide a reference to the renovation of existing residential buildings in other regions.
