In our daily life,car is the very important means of transport.As electronic technology and software technology's development, especially the rapid progress of embedded microprocessor technology and the emergence of embedded operating systems, car electronic products have a qualitative leap with the functionality, performance and graphic user interface. Car electronic products also begin to use advanced microprocessors and embedded operating systems.This article explore and design a new Information System for Car Backing based on the embedded system in this background.This new Information System for Car Backing uses an ARM CPU as the main control unit,the embedded Linux as the operating system ,QT/E as the GUI.This system uses the camera to gather the video data of the car's rear and the ultrasonic ranging to measure the distance between the car's back and the obstacle. Unlike the past Information System For Car Backing,this system is controlled by the embedded Linux operating system and can display the realtime video and distance data on the LCD through the QT/E GUI application program which running on the embedded Linux,this system also can give the voice warning and provide the driver two function buttons to control the warning voice.Firstly,this article proposed the purpose and main research contents of this paper according to the Information System for Car Backing's recent research status and the level of development.Next,this paper has done a needs analysis for this system and then explore the system's overall construction of the hardware, the construction of ultrasonic ranging module,the principle of ultrasonic distance measurement,the embedded system and GUI used by the system.This paper explore the hardware module of the system next and focuses on the research of the three interfaces of the main system which are the LCD interface,the voice and PWM timer interface,the USB interface and then explore the hardware of the ultrasonic ranging module.At last,this paper explore system software and application's design.The system software part explore the embedded system's transplant and focuses on the root filesystem's making and transplanting based on QT/E.The application part explore the software design of the ultrasonic ranging module,the video data acquisition based on v412,the Linux serial port communication program,the PWM driver for Linux and the voice warning module.This paper focused on the design of the GUI application based on QT/E in the software research part next.After all of these research,this paper test and verify this system and have a well result,the system's hardware and software runs well,the GUI application based on QT/E runs smoothly and can meet the real-time requirement of the car backing.This paper also analyses the deviation of the ultrasonic ranging module.The experimental results show that the ultrasonic ranging module's deviation within the scope of allowed when backing a car.
