In this paper, the synthetic monitoring system of solar power unit is designed based on analysis of solar energy power generating monitoring technology at home and abroad. The method of using four columns to hold up solar photovoltaic array is proposed.The photovoltaic array tracking control and fault detection mathematical model are established by using solar energy power domain knowledge, technology of computer measuring and controlling, data processing, communication and automatic. The system adopts distributed structure. The RS-485 bus is used to connect between the upper computer and host, while the I2C bus is used to connect between the host and slave. Tracking sun and battery fault detection technologies are fully discussed in this paper, and solar energy photovoltaic power unit is real-time monitored and controlled. System functions include: controll the photovoltaic array tracking sun, detect fault solar battery, automatic clear photovoltaic array's surface and unloading etc. The testing has proved that the design has met the requirement and has some application values.
