The rapid development of Chinese economy and the high concentration of urban population, arose the steep rise of the Urban Traffic demand.Urban Rail Transit has advantages in the low transportation cost, large freight volume, low pollution and convenience. So constructing Urban Rail Transit has become the first scheme for solving the traffic problem in major cities all over the world. Network effect of Rail Traffic lines brings growing Socio-economic benefits for cities. At the same time, the Increase of Traffic Volume brings new problems. One of the dilemmas is that the security incidents resulted from the inconsistency between the increasing volume of passengers and constant capacity of passageway occurred.Based on the topic (Study on the Capacity of passageway in Beijing Existing Mass Transit Station) of Beijing Road Council, this paper surveys Five of Beijing Mass Transit Stations and analyzes as followings:(1)Analysis of the maximum capacity of stairway, entrance, transfer passageway;(2) This paper conducts the relationship curve fitting between pedestrian density and pedestrian speed in Bidirectional entrance, staircase and transfer passageway, then according to the model based on the investigation, the paper gives the actual capacity range of passageway under the interval of train.(3)The capacity of Bidirectional entrance is researched; and the better condition of bidirectional pedestrian is provided.(4)The evaluating index system of passageway capacity is established; then the principles, method, index are formulated.(5)The paper takes the Chongwenmen station as the example and provides the result with the evaluating index system of passageway capacity.Studying the flow distribution of stations could make an objective evaluation for station service level, which is quite useful for new stations' design and amendment of Code for Design of Metro.
