Embedded systems have been universal to the industrial control, traffic control, information appliance and environmental monitoring, and network is the future development trend of embedded systems. An embedded network-based monitoring system for power cable channel is designed in this paper. This system is based on CAN field bus and embedded Ethernet technology to realize real-time transmission, monitoring, status dispiay and critical alarm, therefor, the sysytem can reduce cable channel accident rate, save costs and improve the quality of power supply.Embedded host-computer is a core component of this monitoring system, its key function is to receive data collected by embedded client- computer and to process these data, then transmit them to information management level through Ethernet.After a detailed analysis about the functional requirements of embedded host-computer, this paper first design the architecture. Then the hardware circuit is designed with the microprocessor LPC2292 based on ARM7TDMI, including minimum system for LPC2292, CAN bus interface circuit , Ethernet interface circuit and Romdisk interface circuit. The key algorithm ofμC/OS-II, which is an embedded real-time operating system, is also studied in depth. After transplantingμC/OS-II to LPC2292 successfully, the system control software is completed, including CAN communication receiver subroutine, driver for network card RTL8019AS, communication program for TCP/IP Application Layer and driver for NANDFLASH K9F2G08U0M.
