| A bridge is a structure built for the purpose of providing passage over the obstacle. Bridges which are located in scenic spots, creating a new landscape together with their surrounding environment, are called landscape bridges, or bridges for short, where tourists can have a rest and enjoy themselves. As an important constituting part of a scenic spot, the bridge has four functions. Firstly, as a road hanging in the air, it can guide tourists and play the role of a traffic route, and at the same time it helps to change the angle of sight. Secondly, as a construction over obstacles, it not only ornaments the waterscape but also becomes scenery in the landscaped area with a high art value. Thirdly, as a construction separating the water surface, it optimizes the arrangements of the waterscape and serves as a link between the line (road) and water surface. With an open vision and a high altitude, the bridge provides a special observation point for tourists. With the development of the economy and the improvement of people's living standards, the requirements for landscape design are higher and higher. As one of the important constituting elements in landscape design, the bridge bears the harmonious aesthetic characteristics. This paper strives to find out the relationship between the three main steps in the bridge design (locating, modeling and detailing) and its four functions, and analyze the techniques employed in landscape design of the bridge on the basis of its historical inheritance and innovation, geographical characteristics and contemporary needs. This paper elaborates in the first place the purpose, significance, methods and frameworks of the study. Then through theoretical deduction and synthetic analyzing, this paper expatiates the four functions of landscape bridges from three aspects, locating, modeling and detailing, and analyze the techniques of landscape design. Case induction, the combination of case study and real practice, is used to back up the conclusion of this paper. Three new views are put forward:exploring into the relation between the three design steps and the four functions of the bridge; searching for the techniques of landscape design; briefly analyzing the inheritance and innovation of artistic design of the bridge based on research and case study. |
