Study On Traffic Calming Design Of Urban Residential

By analyzing the environment characteristics and problems of urban residential area,the thesis propose to apply the concept of traffic calming to plan and design of residential road,in order to reduce negative effects of vehicle on the residents quality of life and environment and to change reckless driving to human driving behavior through hardware facilities and software facilities,so as to protect the travel security of residents and improve the quality of life.Based on the domestic and foreign investigated status,the paper propose the concept of traffic calming,including the definition, development trends,extension of the concept and foreign traffic calming implementation process,then according to traffic environmental characteristics of China's urban residential areas,proposing the design of the traffic calming for our area.Then discuss specific measures of traffic calming, including software measures, namely, legislation enforcement, resident participation and so on, and hardware engineering measures, including volume controls and speed controls, and to compare the advantages and disadvantages of various measures in order to determine its scope of application; and build on the successful experience of foreign, propose engineering design principles that need to pay attention to, design features and geometry, etc. As there is not any practical results of the traffic calming in domestic yet, therefore, through collect and reseach the information on foreign, study the results of the traffic calming from several aspects, including lowering the speed and reduce traffic volume, the impact on traffic safety, as well as the impact on residents.The paper take Xi'an Qu Jiang Yanhu community as an example to design of traffic calming, by analyzing the characteristics of internal roads and the surrounding district road network, select the scope of the traffic calming-based district design, then define the static sections as well as the intersection of the program, at last finish traffic calming design of the community.
