So, residential district will be an important element of landscape design in the external environment of the residential districtThe content of this thesis conducts the cold outside residential area to create a terrain environment, learning through research analysis, summarizes the residential area on the cold city terrain outside environment of the current situation and research. Firstly on the domestic and external environment of Residential Architecture analyzed the theory of the cold outside the ecological environment, terrain, recreation, engineering, landscape and so aspects of six far more representative of the residential district outside the environment to the status of research terrain such like Shenyang of Liaoning Province Vanke Seasons Flower City, Jilin of Jilin Province, Central Riverside Park, the urban oasis of Harbin city etc. The paper concluded the residential area in cold environment status of the terrain problem, the causes of status issues, from the ecological, recreation, engineering, landscape and other aspects of residential district outside the environment in cold terrain design problems.The paper contraposes communities living in cold environment, the terrain outside the theoretical development of the design was reviewed, mainly include Chinese feng theory, the traditional cultural landscape, classical design, behavior and psychology theories. And on this basis the paper proposed the residential outside district the environment in cold landscape design principles, divided into the ecological principle, the principle of recreation, engineering principles and the principles of aesthetics, from different aspects of living in cold environment, the terrain outside the Design Region to provide ideological guidance.
