So this article mainly residential area outer space environment of cold region as the research object, starting from the perspective of the elderly, to explore suitable for the elderly life living outside space, in cold region of residential endowment environment provide theoretical basis for the scientific design, space environment is more suitable for the elderly to create local activities.Thesis is divided into four chapters, the first part mainly introduces the research background, the paper studies the purpose and significance, research methods and the content of the framework, as well as the related theory research. The third part according to the characters of cold city, selection of changchun city residential area as a field research object, and adopt the method of questionnaire survey, understand the residential outdoor environmental needs of the elderly. The fourth part is set in cold region, based on practical investigation and research, analysis of the activity behavior characteristics and needs of old people, put forward to adapt to the cold region of the elderly activities of outdoor space environment design strategy.
