As the electron level increasing on vehicle and increasingly strict emission regulation, more and more middle side diesel engine vehicles are equipped with advanced Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system. Due to driving requirement, Idle/Maximum (I/M) speed governor system is always applied. But some multi-function vehicle retrofitting requires the I/M governor mode in driving condition and Full Range governor mode in standstill working condition. That requires the vehicle engine can switchover the running modes according the actual working requirement. So it is very necessary to research and develop a Full Range speed governor unit to meet this multi-function vehicle retrofitting application.Base on the analysis to the original vehicle diesel engine speed control system and driven system, firstly, we work out several applicable solutions. After detail comparison, we take use of reconstructing the speed close loop method to design this embedded unit. This solution can achieve the engine speed isochronous control nearly without changing original vehicle engine speed control system. And then, base on the embedded system, we explain the hardware and software design according the separated module construction and also take the reliability and low cost into consideration. At last, regarding the actual operation, we do the testing and optimization on the real vehicle. The testing result shows the whole design is successful.
