The architectural landscape can be seen as many kinds of symbols. On one hand, the unique spirit of the ethical philosophy, the concepts of valuation, the aesthetics and other cultural implications are embodied in architectural landscape; therefore, it may be symbolized as different cultures. On the other hand, the architectural landscape can also be seen as an environmental symbol, it is fulfilled by the sediment of history and culture, and reveals the approach and processes of human being in natural environment. Thus, the understanding of an ethnic group and an architectural feature in different area can be directly obtained by researching architectural landscape. In addition, as the ecological and cultural construction has became a new topic in architectural design and been developed as a new trend, as a result, the research in existing cultural ecology of traditional buildings became an indispensable part of studies in history and theory of architectural landscape.In this paper, the theory of cultural ecology is used for building the fundamental research that is based on detailed analysis of ecological phenomenon and cultural implication for Qian-Gui district's architectural landscape. The more analysis is based on referring predecessors'experience in adaptable construction to the terrain, climate and other geographical elements, as well as the experience in construction delivery. Those above analysis aim to absorb the concept of the ecological and cultural essence, and provide the demonstrated example of further research in regional architectural landscape.The paper is approached by enumerative method, accompanies with the proliferation and integration of the cultural ecology, and related theories in cultural ecology. The paper focuses on analyzing the framework of settlement landscape in existing architectural landscape, the composition of architectural landscape, the material expression, and the diffusion/integration research in geographical architectural cultural. At the time the information was gathered, the more in-depth field research was carried in order to ensure the authenticity and accuracy of this research.This paper can be mainly divided into three parts; each part focuses on research in three fundamental theories in cultural ecology. The first part bases on the theories of"eco-bearing for the formation and development of culture", and attempts to answer questions, such as:"how the environment affects the framework of Qian-Gui district's settlement landscape, how the architectural landscape in Qian-Gui district referred to natural environment". These questions is answered by a number of reasonable classification and analysis with actual demonstration; in addition, the special effect of landscape under particular natural environment is explained.The Qian-Gui district's architectural landscape is categorized by using the theory of "eco-environment in the cultural formation and development". Furthermore, the second part explains the reason of landscape formation with regard to architecture, sociology, history, culture, geography, and other multi-disciplinary. This is in order to explore the development track of different architectural culture in Qian-Gui region and the expression of those different cultures in landscape.The third part uses the"cultural isolation mechanism and the change mechanism"to summarize this research. On one hand, the cultural distinction is pointed out, and historical and present role of Qian-Gui region's architectural landscape is explored. On the other hand, the evolution and lost of landscape during the historical and social change has been analyzed, as it emphasizes the essence and significance of this research.
