Application Of Switched Reluctance Motor To Electric Forklift Truck Drive System

Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) drive system has become a powerful competitor for traditional AC and DC drive system. It has many good characters, such as its lower cost, simpler, reliable and firmer stricture, high efficiency, abilities of enduring high temperature and producing high torque when speed is lower, It has a wide range and excellent performance in speed. On the other hand, using the traditional linear control methods to drive SRM are difficult to obtain satisfactory results, because of its serious nonlinear and variable parameters. Therefore, the control strategy of SRM system has been a hot spot in the field.In this paper, study of the background is based on 8/6 structure SRM and 8kW electric forklift driver system, focus on the operation control about the states of SRM'S starts and electric power generation.Combined with the mathematical model of SRM, we analyzed the operational characteristics of SRM start, electric operation, and power generation. According to performance requirements of electric forklift drive system, we proposed the corresponding control strategy under the three operating mode. On this basis, a SRM drive system test platform was built and control software for SRM designed. The design of the system depending on state feedback input, to determine the operating status, and adjusted the control parameters according to the states.In electrical operating conditions, providing the optimal efficiency and torque to forklift driver; in the power generation state, the battery can be provided constant current and constant voltage charging modes in the closed loop.The results show that the switched reluctance motor drive system has good control performance, fault tolerance, and a good prospect.
