Pumping station project plays an important role in industrial and agricultural development of China. In our northwest region, centrifugal pump are widely adopted in high-lift pumping station and for various reasons, few research has been done on the "pumping station unit commitment decision support system" with consideration in secure and economic operation. While it came to an unavoidable question after the implementation of computer monitoring control system. To assure the secure and economical operation of this kind of pumping stations has significant meaningsOn the foundation of pumping station monitoring system, pumping station unit commitment decision support system (PSUCDSS) was put forward. It has fully utilized the data and model processing as well as analyzing ability of computer system with the purpose of helping the operator make rational decision about unit commitment by man-machine interactive system.Firstly, this paper analyzes the main performance parameters, technical economical indices and optimized dispatching mathematical model of pumping unit. Afterwards, the goal, structure and function of PSSEDSS are analyzed and the data base, model base, knowledge base necessary for decision-making are set up as following. Fuzzy mathematics treatment method is introduced for the large amount of fuzzy informationmathematics treatment method is introduced for the large amount of fuzzy information involved in the performance state evaluation of pumping station electromechanical equipment with the experiences of the experts and operators, thus the evaluation indications are quantified, measured and evaluated through reasoning model and satisfaction calculating model, with which, the comprehensive satisfaction of pump unit is determined and provides a basis for the rational decision-making of unit commitment. With fully consideration on the unit's secure and economical indices, the decision-making scheme achieves the optimal operation of pumping station as a whole. PSUCDSS is a component part of optimized dispatching DSS of irrigation area. In the end of this paper, the relation between optimized dispatching DSS of irrigation area and the PSUCDSS is discussed and the informatization construction of large-scale irrigation area is introduced.
