Water is an important natural resource for the development of the national economy. With the rapid development of the west China, the gap between the water demand and the load of water resources is becoming wider and wider. Meanwhile, there are many regions on the verge of imbalanced water resources utilization. Generally foreign pumping station owns high degree automation equipment and small quantity of qualified and specialized staff, while the pumping station constructed in early stage of China is mostly monitored and controlled by artificial means, important operation parameters are often neglected due to the negligence of staff and accordingly cause potential security issues in spite of the worker’s high workload.Based on the investigation of the agricultural irrigation area of Sanjiaocheng, Yuzhong, Lanzhou, setting the renovation of local high lift head electric pumping project as the background, this thesis researches the control object of the pumping station, specifies control function and target, come up with a best suited integrated control design program. The pumping station Integrated control system comprises two tier structures, characterizing dispersal control and centralized management. The first tier of the control system is the local control level, including PLC test and control and computer protection. The computer systematic protection is composed of incoming relay-protection, capacitor protection and motor protection. The second tier is the centralized control which centralizes on major control computer, sets the development of certain software as platform, and incorporates input, output, communicating and video surveillance equipments accordingly. The centralized control complete data analysis and calculation, data storage, limit and accident alarm, database management and report print through collecting signals on site by the computer and internet, also deliver instructions to local control level. The pumping station Integrated control system applies key technology of CAST&FIRST, namely communication technology, automatic technology, signal processing technology, fault diagnosis technology, intelligent control technology, remote control technology and supervisory control technology, protects and controls the major equipment of the station, monitors real time running parameters, and realizes coordinating communication and video surveillance. These 7 technologies are connected and interacted to be the core of the pumping station integrated control system. After rework of the large electric pumping station, each unit can be managed systematically, however, they are still independent system. To gradually realize computer coordination on internet, this program reserved communication access to monitoring and dispatching center to facilitate each control lever report data and information to managerial levels. Also, how to connect levels between each pumping station, how to define the responsibilities of the admin and how to report valued information and escalate them is the task to be studied further.This thesis designs a new integrated control system for large electric pumping station, updating previous manual operation and dispatching to computer operation and real time monitoring, which benefits enterprises in reducing labor and increasing efficiency, promotes organizational reform, enhances local capacity of fight against natural disasters, alleviates insufficient water supply, provides high effective irrigation and secures water supply necessary for agricultural production. In Summary, the integrated control system for large electric pumping station designed by the author contributes both economically and socially.
