A medicinal plant Gynostemma pentaphyllum(Thunb.) Makino in Mountain Jinyun was selected for the study in this thesis, 5 populations were selected to reveal its genetic diversity using morphological diversity and AFLP molecular markers. The following conclusions were drawn after the experiments:(1) When morphological features are concerned, analysis of variance shows that among the 28 morphological characters, 10 mutations, 35.71% of all characters, are significant, which shows that difference of most morphological characters are not significant.(2) The morphological characters of the vegetative organs are obviously divergent, whereas those of the reproductive organs are relatively steady.(3) At the individual level, cluster analysis demonstrates that, most individuals of different population usually cluster together and have no visible principle of morphological divergence on the whole, but the G. pentaphyllum(Thunb.) Makino in Mountain Jinyun shows obvious individual divergent trend at the second grading standard.(4) At the population level, the G. pentaphyllum(Thunb.) Makino in Mountain Jinyun can be classified into two clusters, one is composed of the populations from the Haole village, the Jinyun temple and the bamboo garden, and the other is composed of the populations from the Helong garden and the microwave viewing-post.
