Brucellosis is a very important zoonosis in the worldwide.Recently, in Western Liaoning district, the incidence of ovine Brucellosis increased each year, which threated animal husbandry reproduction and pepole's health. The aim of this research is to select the fast and effective serological detection methods,to conduct the epidemiological investigation of ovine Brucellosis,to analysis the geographical distribution, epidemiological law and feature, the trends of ovine Brucellosis, and to put forword prevention and control program, according to the epidemiological law and feature. In order to obtain an effective method to detect ovine Brucellosis, a method iELISA was established preliminarily. However, further improvement was needed. In order to find out the method which have good sensitivity and specificity, four serological methods were compared. The results to detect of 100 ovine sera showed that cELISA had higher sensitivity and specificity than SAT;IELISA had the same sensitivity with RBT,but it had higher specificity.RBT and SAT could be instead by iELISA and cELISA in large-scale quarantine. In order to realize the infected situations and epidemic characters of ovine brucellosis, the 30 ovine aborted fetus samples were collected. The pathogens from the samples was isolated, cultured and identified as Brucella by staining.1051 ovine sera from Western Liaoning were examined by four methods, such as Rose Bengal Plane Test(RBT),Standard Tube Agglutination Test(SAT), Indirect Enzyme LinkedImmunosorbent Assay(iELISA),and Competitive Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay(cELISA). The results showed that the positive rate of ovine sera in 5 cities of Western Liaoning district was very similar, and the total positive rate of ovine sera in Western Liaoning was 4.12%,so the infected situations was very seriously.
