In this paper, five trials on the key production technology were conducted during 2009 to 2010 based on the key production technology increasing the yield, quality and economic benefits, which include the effects on the tobacco yield and quality from tobacco varieties, transplanting timing, conventional fertilizer, fertilizer-N, and green manure. These trials have further fulfilled the production technological regulations for Ningnan high quality tobacco and made some achievements. Results indicated as follows:1. Research on variety selectionAfter the comparison of the eight varieties (CF202, CF204, CF207, CF208, Yunyan85, Yunyan87, Yunyan97, Red flower and big dollar), including comparison of their botany, agronomic characteristics, diseases resistance and the integrated analysis of economic characteristics, appearance quality, main chemical components and smoking quality after the tobacco being cured, studies indicated that CF207 showed higher yield and better quality as well as better diseases resistance in spite of its long growth and development period. Besides these characteristics, its chemical components and sensory testing shared some similarities with these three normal tobacco varieties. The yield and quality of Yunyan 97 is higher and better than Yunyan87 and is close to Yunyan85. Yunyan 97 shows more coordinated chemical components and its sensory testing is better than normal tobacco varieties. Therefore, CE207 and Yunyan 97 are relatively suitable for planting in Ningnan.2. Research on the effects from different timingFour different tobacco transplanting stage treatments comparison were studied, including Tl (Treatment 1) (April 20th), T2 (April 26th), T3 (May 3rd), T4 (May 10th). The results showed that the plants of T1 and T4 were relatively short, leaves were relatively small; on yield and output, T2>T3>T4>T1; on appearance, T2 and T3 showed better oil; on chemical components analysis, except T4, the other three were relatively coordinated; on sensory testing quality, T2>T3>T1>T4. From all above, T2 is better than the other three treatments on economic benefits, chemical components and smoking quality. Therefore, the transplanting time on April 26th is the most suitable.3. Research on effects from conventional fertilizerAfter the four comparison trials of the conventional fertilizer with different treatments, including comparison of their botany, agronomic characteristics, diseases resistance and the integrated analysis of economic characteristics, appearance quality, main chemical components and smoking quality after the tobacco being cured, indicators of these treatment are almost the same, T3 (7500 kg/hm) is relatively better. Therefore, applying the completely rotten conventional fertilizer can effectively improve the tobacco quality in Ningnan County.4. Research on the effects from different applying levels of fertilizer-NAfter the five comparison trials of the different applying levels (75 kg/hm2,90 kg/hm2,105 kg/hm2,120 kg/hm2 and 135 kg/hm2), the study demonstrates that with the increase of the applying level of fertilizer-N, yield of each treatment is also increasing but the economic benefit increase first and then decrese, and the appearance quality of cured tobacco obviously decreased when the level reaching to 135 kg/hm2; on chemical components analysis and sensory testing quality, applying N at level of 105 kg /hm2 is relatively coordinated and good. Therefore, applying N at level of 105 kg/hm2 can improve the overall quality of the tobacco and make the yield, quality, chemical components and sensory testing quality to a rational level.5. Research on different applying level of green manureAfter the four comparison trials of different applying level of green manure, T1(9000 kg/hm2),T2 (18000 kg/hm2),T3 (27000 kg/hm2),T4 (0 kg/hm2), the study showed big influences on the tobacco yield and quality with different applying level of green manure; influence on the plant height is also very big, T3>T2>T2>T4; yield of T3 is the highest while output, average price and the ratio of high-end tobacco of T2 are the highest; small differences of the appearance quality of cured tobacco; chemical components of T2 is relatively better and the sensory testing obtains the highest score. Therefore, when turning over the earth, applying green manure at level of 18000 kg/hm2 can effectively improve the tobacco yield and quality and get the most economic benefits.
