| Based on flue-cured tobacco samples including B2F, C3F, X3F three grades, a systematically analysis was applied in this paper to characterize the tobacco leaf quality and characteristics in Enshi tobacco-growing areas, which was mainly observed at three aspects including appearance character of leaf, the quality of chemical composition and smoking evaluation .The tobacco quality in different ecological regions, different flavor types and different sweet types were compared, quality and characteristics of flue-cured tobacco and its distribution features was made clearly. The main purpose is to provide the theoretical support to the reasonable distribution of tobacco production in Enshi tobacco-growing area and to select raw material for tobacco industrial companies. The main results are as following:1.The appearance characters of flue-cured tobacco in Enshi tobacco-growing areasThe appearance characters of flue-cured tobacco were good in Enshi tobacco-growing areas. The leaf maturity was better; color was slight orange to orange; most leaves had oil content. The color was strong in upper leaves, and middle level in middle and lower leaves. The appearance characters in high and middle leaves were good, but it should be changed better in lower leaves.2.The chemical composition'characters of flue-cured tobacco in Enshi tobacco-growing areasBoth the total sugar and reducing sugar contents in Enshi tobacco leaves had an appropriate level. But the highest and lowest values were beyond the suitable ranges. Increasing the maturity of leaf should be a problem that was something ignored in Enshi.The leaves had ample contents of potassium; this was one of the advantages in Enshi tobacco-growing area. One problem of this area was poor in chlorine, in order to change the quality of tobacco leaf; the chlorine should be appropriately increased in production.3.The smoking evaluation characters of flue-cured tobacco in Enshi tobacco-growing areasThere were three kinds of flavor types in middle leaves in Enshi tobacco-growing areas. The intense-to-intermediary aroma was the main type in Enshi, and the intense-to-delicate was the second flavor type. There were two features about the smoking evaluation in Enshi, one was the high ratio of delicate fragrance, and the other was having an obvious sweet style. The middle leaves had a better level smoking evaluation and highly industrial utilization. the score order of smoking evaluation in three kind of flavor types: intense-to-delicate>intense-to-intermediary>intermediary-to-intense.4.Relationship between altitudes and chemical compositions in Enshi tobacco-growing areasAltitude of Enshi tobacco-growing areas had a significantly positive correlation with the contents of reducing sugar, total sugar and chlorine, but had a negative correlation with nicotine and total-nitrogen. In upper tobacco leaf, altitude had a significantly positive correlation with total sugar and reducing sugar, as well, altitude and total sugar has a same relationship in middle leaf, but nicotine in middle leaf showed significantly negative correlations with altitude .The irritancy odor was the only one of sensory quality characters which has a signification positive correlation with altitude in smoking evaluation. 5.Characteristics of tobacco leaf at different flavor types in Enshi tobacco-growing areasThe distribution of different flavor types was different in three parts of altitude. Intermediary-to-intense mainly appeared in lower altitude; intense-to-delicate mainly appeared in middle altitude; intense-to-intermediary mainly appeared in lower altitude.6.Characteristics of tobacco leaf at different sweet types in Enshi tobacco-growing areasThe distribution of different sweet types was different in three parts of altitude. A typical sweet type mainly appeared in middle altitude, and then appeared in high altitude. the score order of sweet type in three kind of flavor types:intense-to-delicate>intense-to-intermediary>intermediary-to-intense. |
