Pistachio (Pistacia.vera L) is one of the most potential dried fruit in arid and semiarid area of china,however,It's cultivated area is limited in domestic,at the same time,we know just a little about physiological characters of Pistachio sotck which will influence directly the expanding of Pistachio cultural area.So this study will uncover the physiological law of pistachio and P. chinensis bunge under drought stress(include natural and PEG treatment) by changing of leaf relative water content, leaf water potential,Photosynthesis, content of Proline ,solublesugar and activity of SOD.The result showed that:1.In normal condition, there are obvious difference among different pistachio stock: Water use efficiency of pistachio is the lowest,it is just 1.83, P. chinensis bunge has the biggest water use efficiency.it is 2.57. The order of water use efficiency of four stocks is P. chinensis bunge >P atlantica Desf > UC Berkeley I> P.vera L.2. Under natural drought stress,For P. chinensis bunge, content of Proline, soluble sugar,MDA an d chl increased; leaf relative water content, leaf water potential,activity of SOD reduced,Stoma is t he key element which influence photosynthesis. P.vera L and P. chinensis bunge have the same la w in the change of photosynthesis, activity of SOD, content of Proline and content of chl,but they have great diferrent law in evapotranspiration, content of soluble sugar and leaf water potential.th ere is little change in leaf water potential and content of solublesugar for P.vera L.3.In drought stress of PEG solution, P. chinensis bunge is less than in the content of chl increasing degree; is better than Pistachio about photo effectiveness; content of Proline in Pistachio increased in summary,but P. chinensis bunge is on the contary;In the last day, P. chinensis bunge is more active than Pistachio about the SOD activity;they have the same variational tendency in content of soluble sugar,but Pistachio is more than P. chinensis bunge;In Summarize synthetically,no matter under natural drought stress or PEG treatment drought stress P. chinensis bunge is better than Pistachio.
