Precision seeding is not only field work with high technology and high standard, but also a new agricultural mechanization technology of remarkable benefit and practical produce. It is the main content of "cost-saving and profit-enhancement engineering technology" which is extended by Agriculture Ministry. In fact, the disqualification of manufactured technology,slippage of tractor,fluctuating condition of ground,brake of the seed pipe,block of seed meter device, all these may make serious seeding absence. So it is necessary to develop an absence compensation system to supply the absent seeds in time and ensure for the expectation yield.As a new technology of product design, Virtual Prototyping (VP) is a revolutionary method compared with traditional method. By simulation tests, engineers can not only discover the potential problems of design and modify it in time, but also can decrease the dependence on physical model, thus it can reduce the design period and lower design cost.This paper, based on the analysis of design methods, uses the VP software of ADAMS to make performance design and optimize parameter for absence compensation system. Seed compensator is investigated with methods of virtual prototyping simulation analysis and material prototype tests, for exploring VP's application and realization in sowing seeds machine design.This paper takes the drilling apparatus of 2BJD-4 single units semi-precision sowing soybean machine as a research object. First, it analyzes seed's material characteristic, inquires into the principle of absence compensation system and reasons out the seed's theoretical movement. Second, it establishes VP model of absence compensation device by ADAMS, finds out the suitable structural style and interrelated performance parameters of seed compensator, simulates the dynamic seed path curve, carries out the optimization analysis and finds out the three important key parameters: spring stiffness coefficient, electro-magnet suction and the hole gradient, by simulation it gets the optimum parameters under the given condition,they are 1.5102 N/mm,49.849N, -26.52° .Third, According to the optimum VP model, the material prototype has been trial-produced. then with designs of the precision seeder experiment test-bed,the absence compensation program basing on the virtual instrument (VI) technique,the control electric circuit. All these complete an integrated seeding absence /compensation experimental system.
